Performance No. 1 of the NFR Open left us with a tie at the top in the breakaway roping. Madison Outhier and Addy Hill each roped at 2.8 to set the pace in Round 1.
Outhier made the tough decision to turn down her invitation to Calgary and turn out of the Days of ’47 in Salt Lake City.
“I was really nervous going into today. You know, I missed my slack a little bit there, probably could’ve been a little bit faster but I’m lucky it got around the neck. I’m happy to be here,” Outhier said.
Hill was the final cowgirl to nod and she had her family in the stands to cheer her on.
“Honestly, I’m just happy to be here and to compete against girls like Madison, it’s pretty cool. My calf was perfect… couldn’t have been better,” Hill said.
The next fastest time in Colorado Springs on Night No. 1 was KeAnn Hayes’ 3.2 has the breakaway ropers get ready for Round 2.
