Arizona cowgirl Caylie Handgis put down roots in the Lone Star State as she accepted a position as an ag teacher at Huckabay High School in Stephenville, Texas and has continued to take on many roles within the Western Community.
Handgis always had a love for teaching but found her calling as an agriculture teacher when she herself began her journey in ag during high school. Although her interest in ag didn’t begin until her teens, Handgis’s passion for horses and barrel racing was set into motion in the third grade.
Her natural love for animals and rodeo has lead Handgis to take on many different roles in her community.
“I feel like as teachers we have such a big impact on these kids and as an ag teacher, FFA Advisor and rodeo coach we spend so much time with these kids so we really do have a big impact on them.”
Handgis wears many hats but is looking forward to spending more time with her horse and entering rodeos as the summer approaches.
